Stronglight A9 1" Headset

The history behind the Stronglight A9 headset

Stronglight A9 was introduced in the 1980s as part of the French Stronglight range. It was an advanced 1" headset designed for road racing bikes and quickly became popular among both professionals and amateurs. Its light weight, durability, and precise ball bearings (needle bearings) made it a preferred choice.

For many years, the A9 headset was a standard component on high-end bicycles. However, production of the A9 headset stopped many years ago, and old stock quickly sold out. This made it difficult to find new examples, increasing demand among cycling enthusiasts and collectors. Therefore, Stronglight chose to revive the popular, iconic headset with an improved version.

The newer versions of the A9 headset offer improved durability and reduced maintenance thanks to the sealed bearings. These bearings protect against moisture and dirt, extending their service life without requiring regular lubrication.
