History and development
Tektro started as a small factory with 20 employees and produced 50,000 rim brakes per month. In 1999, the company launched its first hydraulic disc brake, which was a breakthrough and defined its focus on innovation. In 2006, Tektro established the TRP sub-brand to serve professional and high-end users.
Technology and production
The company uses vertical integration, with around 80% of production carried out in-house—from forging and heat treatment to CNC machining and carbon-fiber components. This strategy ensures full control over quality. Tektro's products are individually and extensively tested to maintain safety and performance.
Global presence and markets
Tektro has production facilities in Taiwan and China, as well as sales and service offices in the United States, Germany, and Europe. The European headquarters, Tektro Europe GmbH in Haßloch, Germany, was established in 2019 to serve the growing e-bike market.
Innovation and e-bike focus
In recent years, Tektro has achieved success with braking technologies for e-bikes and electric cargo bikes, including the TRP C 2.3 system with 2.3 mm rotors and powerful calipers. Collaboration with leading manufacturers such as Riese & Müller and CUBE underscores the company's position as a technology partner in the growing e-mobility sector.
